Steps have been taken to empower human capabilities and enhance Saudi competencies in the private sector and government agencies, including the engineering and military industries sectors.
The General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC).
It aims at contributing to supporting human capabilities in the military industries sector and advance its development through TVTC’s outputs and programs.
This comes in line with the attempts to enhance the sector’s capabilities to achieve the goals of localizing more than 50 percent of the Kingdom’s military spending by 2030.
The MoU was signed by GAMI Governor Eng. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz al-Ohali and TVTC Governor Dr. Ahmed bin Fahd al-Fuhaid, in the presence of officials from both bodies in the Authority’s headquarters in Riyadh.
Among its objectives are supporting the development of human capital in the Kingdom’s military at various levels, allocating training programs in line with the sector’s needs, as well as establishing training institutes that work under the strategic partnership model to train and qualify national cadres in technical and vocational fields.
Ohali affirmed that this MoU is part of GAMI’S strategic trends to localize industries in this sector by supporting and bolstering human potentials, expanding training and qualification opportunities for young national cadres to work in specialized industries, and seeking to develop a sustainable domestic military industries sector.
Fuhaid, for his part, stressed the importance of cooperation with GAMI and various other military sectors.
“The MoU fulfills the Kingdom’s vision to localize military industries,” he noted, adding that the TVTC is keen to qualify national cadres through specialized high-level training programs that correspond to the needs and requirements of work in the military sectors.
