Saudi Arabia Stresses Political Solutions for Crises in Arab World

The Saudi cabinet reiterated on Tuesday the Kingdom’s commitment to political solutions to resolve crises in the Arab world.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held at the al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.

The ministers hoped that Arab nations would exert efforts to reach political solutions in line with international agreements and Arab League summits.

King Salman briefed the gatherers on his discussions Monday with visiting Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri. The two officials addressed bilateral ties and ways of boosting them. They also tackled the latest developments in the region.

The ministers then reviewed the latest Arab, regional and international developments.

They highlighted Saudi Arabia’s participation at the 151th ministerial meeting at the Arab League in Cairo. It also took part in the Arab quartet ministerial committee meeting concerned with Iranian meddling in Arab affairs. The meeting was chaired by the United Arab Emirates and held on the sidelines of the Arab meeting.

The cabinet then discussed the visit by State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Adel al-Jubeir, to Pakistan and India at the directives of the Saudi leadership.

The visit was aimed to work on reaching calm between the two neighbors following a sharp escalation in tensions.
