
The Saudi government stressed on Tuesday its commitment to bolstering and protecting human rights.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet session in Riyadh.
The ministers highlighted Saudi Arabia’s speech before the Human Rights Council meetings in Geneva, saying the Kingdom is keen on achieving sustainable development based on Islamic Sharia law and its commitments to regional and international rights agreements.
King Salman informed the gatherers of the details of the message he received from President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo on Sunday. He then briefed them on the meeting he held with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa also on Sunday.
The cabinet hailed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for his launching on Monday seven strategic projects in the Kingdom.
He inaugurated Saudi Arabia’s first nuclear research reactor project, as well as projects in the fields of renewable energy, atomic energy, water desalination, genetic medicine and the aircraft industry during a visit to King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST).
These projects are a reflection of the wise leadership’s keenness on developing mega projects that will help achieve the goals of Vision 2030.
The ministers then reviewed the latest regional and international developments, condemning Friday’s shooting of a passenger bus in Egypt’s Minya region. It also condemned the bombing in the town of Khanqin in northeastern Iraq.
They stressed that Saudi Arabia stands by Egypt and Iraq against all forms of violence, terrorism and extremism.
