Saudi Arabia reported on Tuesday 2,509 new coronavirus cases, raising its total to 59,854.

Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Abdelali said 730 of the cases were detected in the capital Riyadh, 526 in Jeddah and 385 in the holy city of Makkah.

Addressing a daily briefing on the outbreak, he announced that 2,886 new patients have recovered from the disease.

Of the new cases, 26 percent were confirmed among women and 74 percent among males. Nine percent were children, 87 percent adults and 4 percent were elderly. Thirty-five percent of the patients are Saudi nationals.

Abdelali warned that failing to respect social distancing measures are causing the emergence of coronavirus clusters.
