Saudi Arabia Resumes Consular Operations in Yemen

Saudi Ambassador Mohammed Al-Jaber to Yemen. (SPA)

Saudi Arabia announced on Friday that it was resuming consular work at its embassy in Yemen after it was suspended due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Ambassador Mohammed Al-Jaber confirmed the news, adding that the move was part of the Kingdom’s initiatives to support the people of Yemen without discrimination and to provide them with opportunities to work and travel.

He revealed that the embassy had issued over 135,000 visas since mid-2018 and until it was forced to close due to the pandemic.

These visas have provided Yemenis with access to job opportunities that help them care for their families in Yemen and support their country’s economy, he added.
