Saudi Arabia reported on Monday 1,112 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the Kingdom’s total to 10,484.

Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Abdelali told a press briefing that more patients have recovered, raising the count to 1,490.

A total of 874 infections were detected during active testing, he revealed, with 73 percent diagnosed among non-Saudis.

Active testing was taking place in regions most vulnerable to the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq al-Rabiah urged the importance of social distancing during the holy fasting month of Ramadan, which starts later this week.

Authorities expect the virus cases to increase in coming days and 47 billion riyals have been allocated to fight the outbreak, he revealed.
