The Saudi cabinet reiterated on Tuesday its commitment to reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Riyadh.

The cabinet underscored Riyadh’s support for efforts to reach a comprehensive solution to the conflict, highlighting its major pioneering role in helping the brotherly Palestinian people. It cited its proposal of the Arab peace initiative during the 2002 Arab League summit in Beirut. The cabinet also expressed its appreciation for the American administration for developing a comprehensive peace plan between the Palestinians and Israelis.

The cabinet stressed that the Kingdom supports these efforts to push forward negotiations. It added that the success of these efforts hinges on their reaching of a just and lasting solution that safeguards the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

King Salman briefed the ministers on the discussions he held on Monday with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the telephone call he held with each of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. King Salman and Putin discussed coordination between Riyadh and Moscow to stabilize the oil market. King Salman underlined to Abbas Saudi Arabia’s firm stance on the Palestinian cause, the rights of the Palestinian people and their choices.

The cabinet highlighted the unanimous statement that was issued after the extraordinary Arab League foreign ministers meeting in Cairo on Saturday that was held to address the United States’ peace plan. It noted the Organization of Islamic Cooperation meeting that had also convened to address the proposal. The Arab League and OIC stressed the centrality of the Palestinian cause for the entire Arab and Muslim nation and the need to commit to the peace process as a strategic choice to resolve the conflict. The settlement must be based on the two-state solution and according to international resolutions, Arab peace initiative and relevant references.

Moreover, the cabinet underscored Riyadh’s hosting of the first edition of the Global Cybersecurity Forum. The event is being held at the directives of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.

The two-day forum kicks off on Tuesday and will host more than 50 sessions aimed at strengthening international collaboration and facilitating the launch of both national and international initiatives to create a secure and prosperous cyber world.

The speakers include a number of ministers and leaders of government agencies for cybersecurity in addition to a number of leaders of international organizations in this field.
