The Saudi government reiterated on Tuesday its call on the international community to assume its responsibilities in taking a firm stance against the terrorist Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen.
Chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the cabinet met in Makkah to discuss the latest regional and international developments.
The government again condemned the Houthis for targeting civilian regions in Saudi Arabia with ballistic missiles and drones in flagrant violation of international and humanitarian laws and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The cabinet reiterated the Kingdom’s condemnation of the terrorist bombing that targeted a market in the Iraqi city of Mosul on Sunday. It also slammed the mosque bombings in the Afghan capital of Kabul and Pakistani city of Quetta.
It offered Saudi Arabia’s condolences to the peoples and governments of Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, stressing that it stands by fraternal countries in their fight against all forms of terrorism and extremism.
It also praised Saudi Arabia for ranking 26 in the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2019, jumping 13 ranks from last year. Through this achievement, the Kingdom outpaced a number of global industrial nations. It credited the success to the integrated efforts of more than 40 government bodies that carried out various reforms to best serve the business environment.
The cabinet also welcomed the opening of the international conference on "Moderation and Mediocrity derived from the texts of the Quran and Sunnah" and the document of "Makkah Declaration" organized by the Muslim World League under the auspices of King Salman.
King Salman then expressed his welcome to the leaders and representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Arab and Islamic worlds, who are set to arrive in the Kingdom to attend the Makkah-hosted Arab, Gulf and Islamic summits on Thursday and Friday.
