Saudi Arabia Records 119 New Virus Cases

Saudi Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Abdelali. Asharq Al-Awsat

Saudi Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Abdelali said Sunday that the Kingdom recorded 119 new cases of the coronavirus, raising the total number to 511.

Abdelali said that 72 of the newly diagnosed people were Turkish nationals under quarantine in the holy city of Makkah after interacting with an infected compatriot.

"We are starting to see more cases linked to interactions... We advise everyone to stay home," he told a news conference, adding that more than 4,000 people are under quarantine.

On Saturday, the Health Ministry spokesman renewed his warning about the danger of social gatherings, describing them as potential “hotbeds” for the COVID-19 disease.

The Kingdom has said its armed forces are now taking part in combating the virus, setting up mobile hospitals in various cities.
