Saudi Arabia started implementing on Sept. 1 the new rules for travelers on Saudi domestic flights, requiring all travelers to be fully vaccinated and canceling the social distancing protocols by re-applying the full seat capacity.

The rule does not apply to children under the age of 12 or people exempt from taking the vaccine for health reasons, Saudi Airlines said.

Saudi Airlines indicated that the weekly seat capacity of Saudia’s internal flights with social distancing was more than 245,000 seats, and will reach more than 372,000 seats, after the lifting of the distancing protocol.

It added that a specialized team will permanently review the flight schedule and seat capacity and approve the increase in accordance with the operational requirements.

Meanwhile, more than 37 million doses of vaccine were so far administered through more than 587 vaccination sites across the Kingdom.

The number of those who received one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine reached more than 22 million people, while more than 15 million people have already received two doses, representing around 42 percent of the population.

The Ministry of Health announced that 185 new infections were registered on Wednesday in the Kingdom, in addition to 301 cases of recovery and seven deaths.
