Saudi Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi announced on Tuesday that public sector employees will gradually return to work starting May 31 as the Kingdom starts to ease restrictions imposed over the novel coronavirus pandemic.
He said that he expects full attendance of employees by June 14.
It is time for resuming economic activities, he stressed, adding that the return to work does not mean that preventive measures would be lifted.
“Vigilance is still necessary to protect nationals and residents,” he stated.
Public employees have proven their competence and ability to adapt to working remotely, Rajhi said.
They had continued to carry out their job even while working remotely, he added.
Saudi authorities said on Monday that restrictions would be lifted in three phases, culminating in a curfew ending - with the exception of the holy city of Makkah - from June 21.
