Saudi Arabia: Palestinian-Israeli Conflict Can Only Be Resolved through Peaceful Means

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen stressed on Friday that a lasting solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict can only be achieved through peaceful means in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

"The Israeli occupation must refrain from hostilities and the use of force against the Palestinian people," declared Saudi Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahiya Al-Mualemi before the UN General Assembly.

He called on Israel to immediately cease its illegal policies and practices of building Israeli settlements on Palestinian territories that have been occupied since 1967.

"Our countries stress the importance of the comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East as a strategic option to end the Arab-Israeli conflict on the basis of a two-state solution and according to international agreements and the Arab Peace Initiative 2002,” he continued.

This demands the establishment of a Palestinian state according to the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, the return of refugees and the end of the Israeli occupation of all Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan Heights and Lebanese territories, he added.
