Saudi Arabia's Security authorities have launched an investigation into a failed attack at a non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah on Wednesday.

The attack took place while the French consul was attending an event in Jeddah, during which several members from different foreign embassies were also present.

A Greek consulate employee and a Saudi security guard were slightly injured.

Governor of Jeddah Prince Mishaal bin Majid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud visited the injured and made sure they are receiving the necessary treatment.

In a joint statement, the embassies of France, Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States condemned the attack and reaffirmed their support to the Saudi authorities in their investigation into the incident and its perpetrators.
