Saudi Arabia, Iraq Sign MoU on Linking Power Grids

Saudi Arabia and Iraq signed a memorandum of understanding framing the joint cooperation in linking the power grids between their countries. (SPA)

The Saudi Ministry of Energy and Iraqi Ministry of Electricity signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) framing the joint cooperation in linking the power grids between their countries.

The MoU was co-signed by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, and Acting Iraqi Minister of Electricity Eng. Adel Karim, in the presence of Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar virtually, and with the participation and presence of Secretary-General of Iraqi Council of Ministers and National Coordinator of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council Dr. Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi.

Prince Abdulaziz said: "The signing of this MoU comes in implementation of the directives of the leaderships of the two countries, by taking everything that would strengthen the relations and the strategic partnership between the two countries in all fields."

The project comes within the framework of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and its executive programs.
