Saudi air defenses intercepted a ballistic missile fired in the direction of the city of Najran by Iran-backed Houthi insurgents in Yemen, the state-run Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
"There were no casualties as a result of the interception," said Colonel Turki al-Maliki, the spokesman of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition.
He condemned the attack, saying this hostile act demonstrates the Iranian regime’s ongoing support for the Houthis with sophisticated weapons in clear and blatant violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231.
Maliki also accused Iran of threatening Saudi, regional and international security.
