Saudi air defense forces intercepted a ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s Houthi insurgents at the kingdom's southern coastal city of Jazan, the Arab Coalition said Friday.

"Saudi air defenses intercepted a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militias targeting Jazan," the Coalition said in a statement.

On Monday, Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki told a press conference that to date the Houthis have fired at total of 119 ballistic missiles at Saudi Arabia.

He said the Coalition had destroyed several ballistic missile platforms that were used by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
