Saudi Arabia, India Ink Information Technology MoUs

The Ministry of Communications signs deals with India's largest companies to localize technology and excellence centers services. (SPA)

The Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology signed in New Delhi on Wednesday two memorandums of understanding (MoU) with the largest Indian companies in the ICT sector, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

The deals aim to localize technology and transfer knowledge to the Kingdom and develop the digital skills of the national cadres to pave the way for the prescribed digital transformation.

The MoUs were signed during a visit by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to India.

The signing ceremony, held at the Saudi Investment Forum in New Delhi, was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of ICT for the Development of Technology and Digital Capabilities Dr. Ahmed bin Hamdan Al-Thunayan and a number of senior officials.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha stressed the importance of these agreements in supporting the Ministry's efforts to promote the ICT sector in the Kingdom to support the local workforce to meet the needs of the digital future and the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

The agreements include establishing a strategic partnership in the field of localization of technology and centers of excellence and development of digital capabilities in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

The deals also call for the establishment of a strategic partnership on the development of telecommunications and information technology services and expansion of current services, which will create thousands of jobs.
