Saudi Arabia hoped on Tuesday that the advent of the new Islamic (Hijri) year will bring with it peace in crises zones in the world.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired a cabinet session at the al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.

The ministers discussed the latest Arab, regional and international developments and hoped that the new year will bring peace to the Arab and Islamic nations.

In addition, they hailed the unique ties that bind Saudi Arabia with Pakistan and their keenness to bolster them in all fields.

Information Minister Dr. Awwad al-Awwad had paid a visit to Pakistan last week where he met with its newly-elected president and prime minister.

The cabinet also expressed Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation of the bombings in the Afghan capital Kabul, offering its condolences to its government and people. It also voiced the Kingdom’s solidarity with Afghanistan in its fight against terrorism, violence and extremism.

On local developments, the cabinet reviewed the 54th annual report of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority, which demonstrated the Kingdom’s economy in adapting to change and fulfilling Vision 2030.

The ministers also approved an agreement with Russia on cooperation in space exploration for peaceful purposes.
