Saudi Arabia: Financial Support to Upskill Employment in Private Sector

Saudi Arabia’s Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF) supports the nationalization of professions in the private sector, where it announced it will pay part of the wages of Saudi men and women employed in the private sector after joining the Employment Subsidy Program for Upskilling.

The Fund supports qualitative nationalization over a 36-month period by paying 30 percent of Saudi nationals’ salaries for their first year of work in the private sector. The support gets reduced to 20 and 10 percent for the second and third years respectively.

The entities are granted additional incentives if they employ Saudi women and persons with disabilities, or hire those from rural and small cities. The increments also include small and medium-sized enterprises (SME).

The program also dictates that it covers 70 percent of employment and 30 percent of training. In addition, the employment subsidy should be between $1,000 and $2,600.

It aims to support the employment of male and female graduates, support the employment in cities and villages with low populations, support the employment of women and people with disabilities and support employment in SMEs.

Through Hadaf, facilities can register and benefit from the program in four easy steps.

They must first register or log in to their account in the National Labor Gateway (Taqat), then activate the Employment Subsidy Programs account. They should then create a job post with job type “Employment Subsidy program for Upskilling”. At the final step, the entity joins the program and calculates the support amount.
