Saudi Arabia Elected to OPCW Executive Council

Saudi Arabia was elected to the executive council of Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, announced Saudi Ambassador to the Netherlands Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Abu Himaidan according to the Saudi Press Agency Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia will be part of the council for the 2019-21 term.

The election, the ambassador said, took place at the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to bolster and introduce the role of the Kingdom in banning chemical weapons.
