Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan called on Thursday for a swift end to the bloodshed in the escalation between Israel and the Palestinians.

Prince Faisal called for “exerting all possible efforts and as quickly as possible to end the bloodshed and the spiral of violence that won’t bring security.”

He told an emergency session on the situation in Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly that Saudi Arabia rejects Israeli measures that seek to expel the Palestinians from East Jerusalem.

Saudi Arabia rejects the recent Israeli measures in the occupied Palestinian territories, he said.

“A solution to the Palestinian issue must be reached on the basis of the Arab Peace Initiative,” the minister stated.

“The Palestinian cause is central to our policy so that the Palestinians can regain their lands,” he added.

Prince Faisal also said the Kingdom welcomed efforts to reach an urgent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the delivery of aid.
