Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to encourage the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
They described the agreement as a significant development for dispute resolution related to the built environment in Saudi Arabia.
Both organizations will work on long-run cooperation to encourage the exchange of vocational knowledge and development related to settling and avoiding disputes in the contracting sector.
SCCA CEO Dr. Hamed Merah told Asharq Al-Awsat the MoU aims to exchange expertise and encourage “the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution and in particular, mediation in the built environment sector, which will enhance growth, confidence and investment in the construction and real estate sectors.”
SCCA is an international center in its field of operations, Merah added. It provided arbitration and mediation services in various sectors including oil, contracting, capital market, entertainment, telecommunication, medical, health and real estate sectors.
He stressed that SCCA has worked with dispute parties from international firms, including the United States, UK, Italy, Sweden, China, Russia, South Korea and some Arab and Gulf countries.
