Saudi Arabia Backs Int’l Response Plan to Pandemic with $100 Million

Saudi Ambassador Abdallah Al-Mouallimi holds the virtual meeting with UN chief Antonio Guterres. SPA

Saudi Ambassador to the United Nations Abdallah Al-Mouallimi announced that the Kingdom would donate 100 million dollars to support the international response plan to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ambassador made the announcement during a virtual meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Friday.

The Saudi mission to the United Nations said that the World Health Organization (WHO) and other UN agencies will benefit from the donation.

Al-Mouallimi said Saudi Arabia has been among the first countries to extend its hand and coordinate with the states that were the most severely impacted by the pandemic.

Guterres thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the Kingdom’s generous support, saying Saudi Arabia has worked in partnership with the UN to back security and stability in the world, mainly in Yemen.
