Saudi Arabia Approves Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine Age Group 12-17 Years

The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was registered in the Kingdom on July 9, 2021 - SPA

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) approved on Sunday the use of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for individuals aged between 12-17 years.

This came after the vaccine company submitted a request to the Kingdom’s Food and Drug Authority, according to SPA.

The decision was made based on the data provided by the company proving that the vaccine had met the needed requirements, which included clinical studies and reports that showed its efficacy and safety.

This includes a proof over the volume of benefits of the vaccine on individuals aged 12 years, which outweighed its risks.

Saudi Arabia first approved the Moderna vaccine for people aged 17 and above on July 9. It has also approved Pfizer-BioNtech and the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines.
