Saudi Arabia Appoints Int’l Expert to Promote Tourism Transformation Program

Gloria Guevara Manzo, former Tourism Minister in Mexico and former President of the World Travel and Tourism Council, was appointed a senior advisor to the minister of tourism.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism announced the appointment of Gloria Guevara Manzo, former Tourism Minister in Mexico and former President of the World Travel and Tourism Council, as a senior advisor to the minister of tourism.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Manzo will employ her 25-year experience in the public and private tourism sector to contribute to strengthening international cooperation, developing the skills of human cadres and supporting ambitious tourism plans and large-scale investments within Saudi Vision 2030.

Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khatib said that the tourism sector in Saudi Arabia was witnessing a comprehensive development boom since the launch of the National Tourism Strategy in September 2019, which is supporting growth and job generation throughout the Kingdom.

Al-Khatib said that Manzo’s wide international experience during her presidency of the World Travel and Tourism Council, and her successful experience in developing the emerging tourism sector when she held the position of Minister of Tourism in Mexico, will contribute to the acceleration of investment and tourism projects in the Kingdom.

Manzo holds a Master’s degree from the College of Business Administration at Northwestern University in the United States.
