Saudi Arabia Adopts Riyadh Aviation Declaration

Future Aviation Forum, Asharq Al-Awsat

The Future Aviation Forum, hosted by the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation from 9 to 11 May in Riyadh, witnessed the announcement of Saudi Arabia adopting the “Riyadh Aviation Declaration.”

The Declaration represents a focal point in the world history of the aviation sector.

The signatories will adhere to six resolutions for the future of aviation that achieve the Kingdom’s vision for this field.

The resolutions work on enhancing the alignment of the sector’s organizational structure, improving its readiness and effective response to health and other disorders, and creating a more consistent, safe, and smooth travel experience for customers.

Moreover, the Declaration commits to achieving a sustainable and comprehensive recovery for the aviation sector by adopting long-term policies that encourage cooperation, participation, and international partnerships.

It also aims to enhance the volume of investments in innovation across the public and private sectors to develop technologies and future solutions that will in turn contribute to the advancement of travel, logistics and related sectors.

The initiative will enable the development of the aviation sector’s human capital by investing in the skills required to meet current and future needs.

It also promotes leading dialogue and global action in the field of sustainability and acknowledges the role played by the sector and its contribution to achieving economic, social, and cultural outcomes at the global and national levels.

Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser presented the Declaration, describing its adoption as a pivotal point in the history of the global aviation sector.

Al-Jasser indicated that the second Future Aviation Forum will be held in 2024.

Saudi Arabia has won the Arab Civil Aviation Award 2022, after hosting the “Future of Aviation Forum.” The award recognizes the Kingdom’s efforts in addressing the most difficult challenges facing the sector globally.
