Saudi Arabia has affirmed the implementation of its international commitments on the empowerment of women, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.

The Kingdom also underlined its determination to work with international and regional mechanisms to follow up on the charters and participate in reviewing achievements at the national, regional, and international levels, and aligning the Vision 2030 with the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This came in the Kingdom’s speech during the Third Committee meeting to discuss the advancement of women (26), within the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which was delivered on Monday by member of the Saudi permanent delegation to the United Nations, First Secretary Noura bint Abdulaziz Al-Jibreen.

Jibreen noted that Saudi Arabia - as a member of the UN Executive Council for Women and the Commission on the Status of Women at the Economic and Social Council - was keen to provide support and cooperation in the field of women empowerment, in addition to supporting the development of government entities, partnerships, international organizations, and policies to enable women to have better access to financial services and productive resources.
