Ad-Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) announced that visitors from outside the country will be able to have an exceptional experience in the city and discover its history by the end of 2019, within Vision 2030 that aims to attract tourists from all over the world.
DGDA CEO Jerry Inzerillo said that the Authority was looking forward to “welcoming our brothers and sisters from all over Saudi Arabia and the world to witness an exceptional experience in Ad-Diriyah and discover its glorious history, as a range of cultural events will be offered by the Kingdom.”
Inzerillo was speaking on the sidelines of a series of workshops organized by the DGDA for three consecutive days, to discuss international experiences in museums and the integration of the latest global ideas into national trends within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030.
The workshops emphasized the need to support the strategy of developing the National Museum and highlights the city’s unique cultural experiences.
More than 50 national and international experts attended the workshop sessions, with the participation of Dr. Fahd Al-Samari, Secretary General of the King Abdulaziz Foundation and representatives of the King Abdulaziz International Cultural Center (Ithra) and Misk Charity.
The workshop was moderated by a team of world art leaders including renowned Italian researcher Carlo Rizzo, curator of the Italian Science Museum, Saudi artist Lulwah Al-Homoud, and global designer Esra Lemmens, founder and director of the Esra Lemmens agency.
Ad-Diriyah Gate Development Authority was established in July 2017 to preserve the culture of the city, its community and historical monuments. The city’s Tarif neighborhood was listed in the World Heritage List of UNESCO in 2010.
