Saudi Ambassador Leaves Lebanon for ‘Personal Reasons’, New Envoy Soon

Saudi Arabia announced that its Ambassador to Lebanon Walid al-Yaacoub has been withdrawn from Beirut due to “personal reasons.”

He has been reinstated at the Foreign Ministry and Walid al-Bukhari will be reappointed Charge d’Affaires at the Saudi embassy in Beirut until a new ambassador is appointed.

Bukhari arrived in Lebanon on Saturday and held talks with Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil to inform him about the appointment of a new envoy.

He stressed that the change will not affect the positive developments in Lebanese-Saudi ties, underlining Riyadh’s constant support for Lebanon’s stability.

He reiterated the Kingdom’s constant efforts to help Lebanon’s institutions and support it at Arab and international meetings.

A new ambassador to Beirut will be appointed as soon as the usual diplomatic procedures are taken, he explained.
