The Arab Coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen announced on Friday that Saudi air defenses shot down a ballistic missile fired towards the Kingdom by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias in Yemen.
Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki said that the air defenses detected the missile at 7:05 pm on Friday and that it was fired towards Jizan from the Saada province.
He accused the Houthis of deliberately firing the rocket towards residential areas, adding that no one was injured in the incident.
Malki said that this latest hostile act by the Houthis demonstrates Iran’s ongoing involvement in arming the militias with all kinds of weapons in blatant defiance of United Nations Security Council resolution 2216 and 2231.
He accused the militias of threatening Saudi, regional and international security, reiterating that firing missiles towards residential areas is a violation of International Humanitarian Law.
