Saudi air defenses intercepted on Wednesday morning a ballistic missile fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

Saudi-led Arab coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that the air defenses detected the launch of the missile from Yemen’s Saada city at 10:15 am.

He added that the rocket was deliberately directed against residential areas.

The air defenses intercepted and destroyed the missile and no one was injured in the incident, said Maliki.

He condemned the attack, saying this hostile act demonstrates the Iranian regime’s ongoing involvement in supporting the Houthis with sophisticated weapons in clear and blatant violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231.

He also accused it of threatening Saudi, regional and international security.
