Saudi air defenses intercepted and downed on Friday morning five drones flown by the Iran-backed Houthi militias towards Saudi Arabia.
Saudi-led Arab coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said the aircraft targeted Abha International Airport and the Khamis Mushait region.
He said that aviation was normal at the airport, adding that the incident caused no delays in flights.
“The criminal Houthis are trying to target civilian facilities in desperate and repeated attempts without achieving any of their reckless hostile objectives,” he remarked.
“It is our legitimate right to take the necessary deterrent measures to deal with these hostile acts in line with International Humanitarian Law,” Maliki vowed.
