Sauchiehall Street taped off by police amidst reports man's 'head split open by Buckie bottle'

Cops have placed Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow on lockdown tonight after reports of a fight in the street.

Officers from Police Scotland taped off an area of the road at around 5.15pm as it was claimed on Twitter that someone was struck on the head with a Buckfast bottle.

The incident took place close the Argos and Mark & Spencer stores.

Cops confirmed they are still trying to trace those involved.

One Twitter user said she saw some being hit in the head with a bottle.

@LJonesLGBTYS wrote: "Nothing like stoatin along Sauchiehall Street to see a ned get his head split with a buckie bottle # peoplemakeglasgow."

Cops confirmed they are still trying to trace those involved.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police attended the scene around 5.15pm following reports of a disturbance.

"An area has been taped off and officers are working to trace those involved."
