Sauchiehall street pub Lauder's Bar to close after one week as tier 3 restrictions 'tougher' than expected

Lauder's pub on Sauchiehall street has announced it will close until Glasgow returns to a lower tier of lockdown restrictions.

The popular city centre pub, which has a loyal following with Glasgow punters, wrote that it was "tougher" than thought to trade under the current coronavirus restrictions.

Glasgow is currently in Tier 3, which means pubs, bars and restaurants can reopen so long as they do not sell alcohol, and have a 6pm curfew.

Lauder's Bar reopened last week, but made the difficult decision to close the pub tomorrow for the forseeable future - or until they are allowed to sell alcohol again.

A social media post reads: "Unfortunately, it’s been tougher trying to reopen during Tier 3 than we initially thought and due to this we will be closing again.

"Tomorrow will be our last day open until we move into a lower Tier group.

"We want to thank everyone who came to visit this last week. We enjoyed seeing you all and even enjoyed the questionable banter.

"Stay safe Glasgow and we hope to see you all again soon!"

Lauder's Bar underwent a refurbishment last year, but closed in March when the city went into lockdown.
