Satwik-Chirag pair sails into second round

Chirag Shetty Satwiksairaj Rankireddy Badminton Asia Championships Manila

The Indian men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty got off to a fluent start at the Badminton Asia Championships in Manila on Tuesday.

The duo eased past Apiluk Gaterahong and Natchanon Tulamok of Chinese Taipei 21-13, 21-9.

The mixed doubles pair of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto took 30 minutes to beat Law Cheuk Him and Yeung Nga Ting of Hong Kong 21-15, 21-17.

However, MR Arjun/Dhruv Kapila and Venkat Gaurav/Juhi Dewangan suffered first round losses.

While Arjun/Kapila lost to fourth seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto of Indonesia 16-21, 22-24 in men's doubles, Venkat and Juhi lost to fourth seeds Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti of Indonesia 9-21, 13-21 in mixed doubles.
