Kris Bryant made his Las Vegas homecoming special with two home runs in 3-1 victory over the A's. At Maryvale, the Cubs rallied for seven runs in the third inning for a 10-5 triumph. Speedster Matt Szczur hit his third home run.
At the plate
At Las Vegas, Tommy La Stella continues to display a compact swing with a double and he finished with four hits in two games against the A's. Catcher Welington Castillo boosted his trade value with a two-run double against the Brewers.
On the mound
Kyle Hendricks, Joseph Ortiz and Jorge De Leon combined to retire the first 21 A's they faced. Against the Brewers, Edwin Jackson pitched three scoreless innings, allowing only one hit while striking out two.
In the field
Javier Baez made a nice throw from shortstop to retire Mark Canha to end the first. Tommy La Stella took over at third after Bryant was scratched from the starting lineup. Bryant stressed his fatigued right shoulder should be healthy in time to start at third Sunday at Sloan Park.
