Saturday Night Takeaway viewers left baffled by Tom Grennan performance as they're distracted by same detail

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly are back with a new batch of famous faces to prank and to lay on entertainment. ITV entertainment show Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway returned for a new series on Saturday night (February 25), along with its End Of The Show Show segment, a popular staple of the show that signs things off with a high energy and often hilarious performance.

Tonight it was the turn of singer-songwriter Tom Grennan, who throughout the show was part of a running joke about him being locked in his dressing room. As Ant and Dec went to his rescue, viewers were gobsmacked to notice something amiss about the room.

As Tom performed his song Remind Me, he started to move without explanation along with Ant and Dec and other visitors to the room. Viewers were scratching their heads over the visual trickery.

They included @lauragabell who asked on Twitter: "Someone immediately tell me how they did that moving floor it’s befuddling meee." @MichelleBoudin_applauded: "That was actually brilliant!!" And @dnbentley wrote: "After a few stiff gins this ‘moving’ floor is confusing the heck out of me."

Fans realised it was reminding them of the vertigo-inducing video for the 1996 hit Virtual Insanity by pop-soul band Jamiroquai, fronted by Jay Kay. The video featured the frontman Jason Kay in a room that wouldn't stay still. The walls appeared to close in and the furniture moved in odd directions.

@rojouk joked: "Sorry but Jay Kay did it far better...." @MattZeeMiller echoed: "Virtual Insanity, Jamiroquai did this better." And @putthetellyon said: "Nice of Jay Kay from Jamiroquai to let Tom borrow his room."

@BuendiaSZN said: "I guess Tom Grennan was right when he said his room reminded him of Virtual Insanity and @GabSwi83 worked out: "I knew there was a reason he referenced Virtual Insanity."

@geordiegalg applauded: "Loved the end of the show show." And @Osmondmania said: "Loved the floor effects. Brilliant performance by Tom & a great way to end the show."

@Sancoops1 told Tom: "Fantastic end of the show show."And @tanyatruefan praised: "What a performance Tom. That was so funny and creative."

Sharing a clip the show joked: "We need to get the maintenance team to check the floor in there." And Tom tweeted: "Help! I'm properly stuck in my dressing room at @itvtakeaway... I need to get out to do the End of the Show Show!"
