Saturday Night Takeaway viewers convinced they caught RuPaul swearing on ITV show

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway viewers thought the show kicked off with an expletive on Saturday night.

Cheeky Geordie duo Ant and Dec returned to our screens for the latest series of the ITV show - complete with a live studio audience - with drag icon RuPaul helping them out.

As the Ru Paul's Drag Race host, 61, opened the show, those watching at home were convinced the star let a swear word slip during their opening monologue.

"Pretty sure RuPaul just swore pre watershed on British TV lmao," one viewer tweeted as the show aired on Saturday night.

"Has Ru Paul just opened the show with swearing #SaturdayNightTakeaway," another asked, with a third adding: "Did RuPaul drop the f bomb live on ITV? #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

But the guest announcer had actually kept his script clean - with no swear words uttered during his cameo on the ITV show.

As one fan took to Twitter to share what they thought was an incriminating clip, another viewer explained people had just misheard the legendary drag artist.

"No. @RuPaul said funky funky no the F Bomb!"

Ru had been joining the cheeky Geordie duo in the ITV studios, as the show returned with a live audience for the first time in two years.

Ant and Dec were delighted to see a live studio audience on Saturday night (ITV)

The live audience was welcomed back with open arms, after the boys had to ditch the crowd last year for social distancing, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly were visibly taken aback, as the crowd roared for them as they sped down to the stage.

As they cheered the return of the hosts and their hit ITV show, Ant was quick to say how thankful he was to have real people back in the studio.

There hasn't been a live audience for a full series since 2018, with the ITV show off air in 2019 and then having to ditch in-studio viewers for the following two years due to social distancing.

Part of the 2020 series was with an audience, before the hosts had to host the final episodes from their homes.

The first episode of the new 2022 series saw the usual antics from the much-loved presenting duo.

In addition to pranking Jeremy Clarkson on his beloved Diddly Squat farm, the cheeky Geordie pair also made a bride's dreams come true - surprising her with an on-air wedding at the end of the show.
