Saturday Night Takeaway spin-off In For A Penny air date finally confirmed

The air date for In For A Penny has finally been announced.

Stephen Mulhern 's spin-off of Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is set to land on ITV this month.

The show, which sees Stephen challenge members of the public to turn one penny into £1,000, will premiere at 7.30pm on Saturday, April 13.

A statement released from the broadcaster on Twitter said: "Confirmed: Brand new, on the street game show, In For A Penny, hosted by Stephen Mulhern, starts Saturday 13 April at 7.30pm on ITV @ StephenMulhern @ antanddec"

Fans were incredibly excited about the news.

"Bought time @ StephenMulhern got his wish," another commented.

Stephen previously told Mirror Online how chuffed he was to have been given Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly's blessing for his new show.

The star, who also hosts Britain's Got More Talent and Catchphrase, among other shows, told us: "It is a dream and Ant and Dec, it's there idea, they solely came up with it and we did it on Saturday Night Takeaway.

"The bizarre thing is, I'm so lucky to do Catchphrase, Britain's Got More Talent, Big Star's Little Star, Saturday Night Takeaway, and the weird thing is that In For A Penny In For A Grand has only been on Saturday Night Takeaway, if you added up all the minutes, it would work out to be about 18 to 20 minutes of airtime, and the weird thing is I have more people say to me in the street, 'Hey I've got a penny, I'm ready to go'.

Stephen also works with Ant and Dec on BGT (ITV / Thames / Syco)

"I think it says a lot about the show and I've spoken to both the boys and they were so excited about it, and good times are coming, fingers crossed."

In For A Penny began as a segment on Saturday Night Takeaway, and Stephen was delighted to get the chance to travel the country filming the series.

And he said he can't believe some of the things he's managed to get people to do for the cash.

He said: "You wait to see some of the things that, I'll go as far as to say that we've got away with, not what we've done, what we've got away with.

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly 'earned a whopping £12,000 A DAY' last year

Stephen was chuffed to get Ant and Dec's approval (ITV)

"Because literally at the end of the day, I was like why would anybody eat a steak bake off a fishing line? It's difficult and very messy.

"You also forget how important £1,000 is. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, you go 'Okay', but when you give someone £1,000 in cash you see how important it is to people."
