Saturday Night Takeaway sparks 90 Ofcom complaints after guest swears live on TV

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway has received 90 Ofcom complaints after a guest accidentally dropped the F-bomb during live TV.

The Geordie duo were left red-faced and forced to apologise after a guest on last week’s show was surprised by their husbands with a saucy striptease.

Despite Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s apology, viewers of the show were disappointed by the use of bad language before 9pm, and took to the complaints giant to express their outrage.

The hilarious episode saw Ant and Dec, both 44, plan to surprise two ladies who had gone to see Magic Mike in London - and the pair had secretly placed their husbands on stage alongside the hunky dancers.

The two men had been practising their routines for weeks, but kept it under wraps to give their wives the shock of their lives during the episode.

One of the ladies was left in utter shock as she watched her husband gyrate in front of her when Stephen Mulhern brought them onto the stage.

She mouthed the F-word, before going on to say: “I thought f**k me, is that my husband?"

Stephen called the woman a potty mouth before swiftly moving away from the conversation.

After the raunchy performance, Ant and Dec said back at the studio: "Apologies again if you were offended by any of the language or any of the lip reading.

"What we can say, two hunky men and an excitable audience it's a fantastic formula isn't it?"

A spokesperson for Ofcom confirmed to Mirror Online there were 90 complaints made regarding bad language on the show.

It’s the second time that the presenting pair have suffered a swearing blunder on TV.

They brought back Singalong Live back to the show - where they pop up on baffled viewers screens and tell them they’re taking part.

One male contestant was left gobsmacked and mouthed “s**t” to his family beside him, as Ant apologised for the swearing.

He told the guest: “Don't swear on live TV. Sorry about that."

Ant and Dec will be hosting Saturday’s show as normal in the studio, but without a live audience due to the coronavirus.
