Saturday Night Takeaway shock for Newcastle man as girlfriend flies in from New York to propose

There was a monumental shock for a Newcastle man on this weekend's Saturday Night Takeaway when his American girlfriend flew over the Atlantic to propose to him live on Saturday Night Takeaway.

With this year being a leap year, tradition has it that February 29 is the day when ladies pop the question and that's exactly what Jordan Stevenson's girlfriend Krista did live on TV in front of millions watching at home.

Ant & Dec initially had Jordan believe that Krista was going to propose to him via satellite from New York but then after asking guest announcer Rob Brydon for a ring, the Gavin & Stacey star dropped the bombshell that she had actually been in the studio the whole time and she promptly walked from the voice over booth to Jordan's seat to propose to him.

And as you can see from the video above taken from Saturday Night Takeaway , Jordan was absolutely stunned but manage to find the words to say 'yes' before the two sealed their proposal with a tender hug.

They weren't the only couple to get engaged on Takeaway either. There were tears as several other ladies popped the question to their men in the studio while one woman proposed to her partner of 30 years from home, with everyone getting to witness the moment via the magic of TV.

This weekend's show started with Rob having a cheeky dig at Dec over his live on air gaffe at the end of last week's Takeaway when he made a huge slip up by saying "That's all we've got time for on I'm A Celebrity."
