Saturday Night Takeaway fans want to know one thing as Ant and Dec announce the show's return

Ant and Dec have put smiles on faces by confirming their return to the telly on Saturday Night Takeaway.

The hosts of the award-winning show sparked delight by posting a picture of the pair 'COVID compliant' filming on set.

The duo, who are well-known for their jokey sketches on the family entertainment series, shared a snap of Ant McPartlin shackled to a chair while Declan Donnelly looked rather menacing.

They asked in a teaser tweet about the new series: "What the hell’s going on here? We’re back at work that’s what! Bit of covid-compliant @itvtakeaway filming."

And they asked: "Who’s excited for the new series?"

Fans rushed to tell them just how excited they are, and they're also wanting to know if the Place On The Plane competition will be back after it was scrapped last year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Me me my place on the plane poster is still up!!" cried one viewer.

"Me!! What will you do with the end of the series trip? We’re still waiting to go on The Plane from last year!" said another.

The first thing the pair addressed at the start of the previous series in March 2020 was the fact that the end of the series finale in Florida had been cancelled.

The season finale for the popular ITV show would have seen 300 lucky winners travel to Disney World Florida on April 4.

They said: "We're not going to be able to show the finale in Florida as planned.

"But Disneyworld and Virgin have said that all the winners will be heading to Florida at future date.

"In better news they've said we can have more places to give away."

Place On The Plane saw houses across the country proudly displaying boarding pass posters in their windows.

Viewers needed to visit a Virgin Holidays store to collect a special Saturday Night Takeaway poster to display in their window to be in with a chance to win.

"My daughter still refuses to pull her @antanddec place on the plane poster down from her window..... She's desperate to meet you guys and go!!" said one viewer after the competition was dropped.

"I can’t bring myself to take it down!" said another.

Another SNT fan wrote: "Still got my Place on the Plane posters in the window too. I can't take them down."

And another tweeted: "I reckon they'll take two big planes next year, one with this year's place on the plane winners."

Fans have been rejoicing at the show's return.

"Can't wait for the new series. It's very much needed right now. Miss you both so much xx" wrote one.

"Brilliant news, something to look forward to, you two always brighten up my life," said another.
