Saturday Night Takeaway fans have found a big problem with the virtual audience

Fans of Saturday Night Takeaway were overjoyed to see the family entertainment show back on their screens.

As Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly bounced back on stage to a high energy duet by Gary Barlow and Beverley Knight, one viewer said their 'life was complete' and another said 'I'm so happy 'I might cry.'

But many found a big problem with the new look Saturday Night Takeaway.

Fans of the ITV show flocked to Twitter to grumble about the new virtual audience introduced because of coronavirus restrictions.

Viewers complained that the sound coming from the massive wall of TV screens showing 300 living rooms across the country was distracting and asked for it to be muted.

"Wish someone would turn the volume down on them screens," said one fan.

"They really need to mute this audience noise, it’s painful to listen to," said another.

"Any chance we can mute the virtual audience??" asked another.

"I'm hearing everything echoed through the live audience," tweeted another viewer.

"Can we get the audience to mute their mics?? It sounds proper messy" asked another.

Another viewer said the virtual audience had distracted them from Gary and Beverley's duet.

"Turn down the virtual audience. Can’t hear @GaryBarlow or @Beverleyknight or see them either," they huffed.

Another said: "The Zoom audience sounds really strange... (but I understand why they need a live audience)"

Due to the Covid outbreak last year's Saturday Night Takeaway was without a live studio audience for the first time.

The decision to scale the show back saw Ant and Dec host the popular family show joined in the studio by just a small crew.

Then as the nation entered the first lockdown it became a compilation of best bits.

To keep the show live, Ant and Dec watched together from their respective homes and streamed the commentary to their fans.

Thanks to the wonder of technology, a huge number of people of people are now joining in the fun live for 'the happiest 90 minutes of the week.'

Ant and Dec took reins of the 17th series featuring guest announcer It's A Sin star Olly Alexander and a hilarious I'm A Celebrity Get Out Me Ear featuring Harry and Jamie Redknapp.

"Makes me so so happy," said one fan.

ITV declined to comment on the virtual audience.
