Saturday Night Takeaway fans baffled by shoppers' reaction to Claudia Winkleman during Ikea prank

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway returned to screens on Saturday, March 11 with another jam-packed show. The latest installment included the first I'm A Celebrity…Get Out Of Me Ear! prank of the series, and it was The Traitors and Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman who had to endure it.

Previously, the Get Out Of Me Ear! segment, which sees presenters Ant and Dec speak to the celebrity through an earpiece whilst putting them in awkward situations, has played out inside the homes of those involved, but this time it was slightly different.

This is because Ant and Dec sent Claudia to Ikea. ITV1 viewers watched on as the 51-year-old was instructed to throw wooden spoons over her shoulder, taste a cake and put it back on the shelf, throw meatballs in the air and catch them in her mouth and get into a bed with strangers in the store.

The presenter struggled to complete some of the tasks and couldn't control her laughter or keep a straight face as she walked around with a trolley. Fans of SNT were left in tears watching the prank as they hailed Claudia as "magnificent" and called for her to become a "national treasure".

"Not being dramatic when I say Claudia Winkleman is the best thing to happen to British telly #SaturdayNightTakeaway," wrote one, while another added: "Claudia is amazing!!!! The BEST Get Out Of Me Ear Prank ever! What an ICON!!!!"

However, other viewers were left baffled that some shoppers didn't appear to know who Claudia was despite her presenting many prime-time television shows. "How does nobody recognise who Claudia Winkleman is?" wrote one.

While another added: "How on earth don't these people recognise her? Don't they watch TV?" And a third commented: "Surely more people recognised her tho #SaturdayNightTakeaway they were probably thinking that off camera she is off her rocker."

In another hilarious moment, Claudia was mistaken for Davina McCall as she took a selfie with a customer. "Not someone thinking that Claudia is Davina McCall," said one with laughing emoji faces. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
