Saturday Night Takeaway fan loses out after Ant and Dec's 'sound delay' blunder

Fans tuning into Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway tonight were not happy when one viewer missed out on a prize during the show's Sing-a-long live segment.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly welcomed the cast of 9-5 The Musical into the studio to provide the song for the game.

As the stars of the musical sang along, viewers at home did the same and were picked at random to continue singing the lyrics to the song correctly in order to win some money.

However, the first viewer to sing-a-long on her own was left gutted as Ant and Dec claimed she had sung the song incorrectly.

Ant and Dec appeared to make a blunder during the Sing-a-long segment on Saturday Night Takeaway (ITV)

The Geordie duo told her she failed to say the word "giving" but viewers tuning in at home disagreed.

One person tweeted: "@antanddec she got it right. There was a sound delay. So devastated for her!!!!! #singlonglive #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

Another fan of the show posted: "The first woman in the sing-along live should have definitely got that. There was a time delay and she was basically penalised because of that #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

One viewer was gutted when she was told by Ant and Dec that she didn't sing the song correctly (ITV)

A third person simply added: "The first lady sang it right ffs #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

A fourth viewer asked: "Why were @antanddec so rude to these two #singalong contestants?! There was a delay and obvious sound issues even the musical stars didn't know what was going on #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

Another person pleaded: "Give the first lady some money too..... there was a delay in the sound, she did say GIVING #SaturdayNightTakeaway #SingalongLive."

Ant and Dec said the footage had been 'reviewed' and decided that the woman had actually sung it correctly and won £500 (ITV)

However, 30 minutes later and Ant and Dec told viewers that they had "reviewed the footage" and the woman had in fact sung it correctly and won £500.

The camera then cut to the lucky lady at home with her family as they cheered from their sofa upon realising they had won the cash.

This certainly satisfied viewers at home, with one person tweeting: "update: thank you for giving her the money #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway airs Saturdays at 7pm on ITV.
