Former Saturday Kitchen host James Martin is to co-host ITV’s This Morning alongside Anita Rani on Fridays throughout the summer.

Martin, who earlier this year stepped down after a decade as host of BBC1’s popular Saturday Kitchen, guest-presented an edition of ITV’s flagship daytime show alongside Ruth Langsford in April.

“It’s such a privilege to be asked back to do it again, I have a great time there,” said Martin.

Martin and Rani will take over the Friday slot from regular hosts Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.

Holmes and Langsford are filling in on Monday to Thursday for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who are on their annual summer leave.

On their first show together, Martin and Rani will be speaking with Brendan O’Carroll, the creator and star of Mrs Brown’s Boys.

Martin will also step back into the kitchen to show viewers his own vegetable patch and cook two summer dishes.

He also recently interviewed Hollywood stars Matt Damon and Alicia Vikander, which will be aired on 27 July.

“James and Anita are both brilliant hosts in their own right and certainly have the skills suited for the varied and fast-paced nature of This Morning,” said Martin Frizell, editor of the show. “Plans this year will certainly keep our viewers entertained across the summer weeks.”
