Notts County drop out of Football League, Wolves and West Ham win – as it happened

Finally, let’s round up the Premier League action. West Ham 3-0 win over Southampton doesn’t really mean anything to either side, while Wolves’ 1-0 win over Fulham strengthen’s their hold on seventh place. The only way that they can be usurped is if they lose their final game of the season at Liverpool (very possible) and Leicester win their final two matches against Manchester City and Chelsea (very unlikely).

Thanks for joining, enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

Here’s some more live action to get your teeth into: join Alex Hess for the Women’s FA Cup final between Manchester City and West Ham. More than 50,000 are expected at Wembley.

Scott Murray is also on hand for Cardiff v Crystal Palace. Neil Warnock’s side need to win this and also get a result at Old Trafford on the final day to stand any hope of survival.

Here is the state of play in the Bundesliga, with Dortmund kicking off in Bremen in about 20 minutes.

League Two round-up

Some terrible scenes at Stadium MK! The pitch invasion has taken a turn for the worse, with MK Dons rushing to the away end to goad Mansfield’s supporters. Objects have been thrown, there are reports of people being left on the ground injured and fighting. Ugly stuff, but it looks like both sets of fans are guilty here. It looks as though the police are finally getting a hold of it, moving the MK Dons fans back onto the other side of the pitch.

And so it is Newport that claim the final play-off spot in League Two, thanks to a 87th minute equaliser from Jamille Matt. That gave the draw they needed at Morecambe, with Exeter only able to draw 0-0 at Forest Green Rovers and Colchester’s win at Lincoln proving not enough.

MK Dons are promoted back to League One!

They hang on for a 1-0 win over Mansfield, who slip out of the automatic promotion places into the play-offs. Cue the pitch invasion at Stadium MK, somewhere in that mob is Paul Tisdale, who has lead the club to promotion in his first season in charge.

Mansfield are still battling to try and find a winner at MK Dons, who still lead 1-0. Backs to the wall job here with 97 minutes played.

Full-time: Macclesfield Town are safe, Notts County are relegated

Swindon score a third, to seal Notts County’s fate. It’s 3-1, and Notts County will be relegated from the Football League for the first time in their history. Cheers at Macclesfield – Sol Campbell has kept the Silkmen up. When he took over, Macclesfield were seven points adrift of safety. You have to say that he has done a magnificent job.

Forest Green have not got out of their half in about 30 minutes. Exeter really pushing for the winner that would put them into the League Two play-offs. Six minutes of injury time added on there.

Newport have equalised against Morecambe! As things stand, it’s the Welsh side that will finish seventh in League Two and claim the final play-off place.

Updated

To put things in a very important context.

Fulham, losing 1-0 at Wolves, have just brought on Harvey Elliott, who becomes the youngest ever player in the Premier League. He’s just 16 years and 30 days old.

Updated

Exeter, meanwhile, are still being held by Forest Green. One goal and they will reclaim the final play-off spot in League Two rather than Colchester, who lead Lincoln 3-0.

It’s still MK Dons 1-0 Mansfield, with the Nottinghamshire club needing an equaliser to claim an automatic promotion spot at their opponent’s expense. Mansfield are putting on real pressure at Stadium MK.

Curtains for Notts County. They will surely be relegated

Swindon have turned it around, now leading 2-1 thanks to a goal from Theo Robinson. Notts County have around 15 minutes to score twice, and also need Cambridge to score at their relegation rivals Macclesfield. It’s just not going to happen.

GOAL! Wolves 1-0 Fulham (Dendoncker 75)

GOAL! West Ham 3-0 Southampton (Fredericks 72)

That’s Fredericks first goal for the Hammers, cantering forward from full back and finishing well across Forster. Game over.

Swindon equalise against Notts County! Kaiyne Woolery with the goal. That looks like curtains for the oldest football club in the world, who need a win (and Macclesfield to lose) if they are to stay up. As things stand, neither result is going their way.

GOAL! West Ham 2-0 Southampton (Arnautovic 69)

Masuaku plays the ball across goal, Forster comes out to punch but completely fluffs it and Arnautovic reacts quickly to head the loose ball in. His second of the day.

Phew, this is how things will finish if the results stay the same. Notts County currently going down with Yeovil. Swindon’s fans sticking the boot in, singing at the County fans: “You’re not singing any more!”

Macclesfield score! The pendulum swings back in Sol's favour!

Notts County fall back into the relegation places, as a result of Elliott Durrell’s fantastic goal! He goes through on goal and with all the pressure on his shoulders, finishes calmly across the goalkeeper into the far corner. Moss Rose erupts!

County are still winning at Swindon but it’s out of their hands now. They need to hold onto their result and a winner from Cambridge at Macclesfield in order to survive.

At the top of the Bundesliga, it was getting nervy for Bayern, who were 2-1 up at home to Hannover, but Franck Ribery has netted with about 10 minutes to go to make it 3-1. Should be three more points for the league leaders, who will go five points clear of Dortmund (who have a game in hand, they go to Werder Bremen at 5.30pm).

Updated

Frustration for Macclesfield then. I’m sorry to say that their fans have taken things to heart, and have started throwing objects onto the pitch in the direction of Cambridge goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov. A Sky Sports reporter has suggested that the objects could be glass, so there is a lengthy stoppage as players and stewards search for any broken and dangerous debris.

Notts County score! They are out of the relegation places at Macclesfield's expense!

A huge, huge goal at the bottom of the Football League! Notts County take the lead at Swindon, thanks to a penalty by Kane Hemmings. That means they leapfrog Macclesfield, who are still losing 1-0 to Cambridge. Just one goal in either match could change the league positions yet again, so stay tuned.

Wolves can seal seventh place with a win over Fulham today, but it’s been a subdued performance so far at home to the relegated side. However, they’ve started the second half well with Neves and Jota going close.

At the top of League Two, MK Dons are still 1-0 up on promotion rivals Mansfield, who started the day in the automatic places but are now heading for the play-offs, with MK going up in third place.

We’re underway again. Macclesfield came very close to an equaliser at Cambridge after a keeper gaffe from Mitov, but a goal-line clearance from Halliday keeps things at 1-0. Remember a draw for Macclesfield is enough for survival, but if Notts County take a 1-0 lead at Swindon, it will be them that are saved.

Half-time whistles sound across the country. And that’s all from me – Michael Butler will take you through to full-time.

Macclesfield 0-1 Cambridge United. Deadlock broken. Sol Campbell’s Silkmen fall behind, Paul Lewis doing the damage – which means Notts County can keep themselves up with a win!

At the other end of the table, Colchester extend their lead to 3-0, Sammie Szmodics again. Lincoln are on the beach, all at sea, and all the other coastal metaphors you can think of.

Updated

Both Macclesfield and Notts County’s games, by the way, remain stubbornly deadlocked. County go down unless that changes.

East Fife 1-1 Forfar. The dream is alive.

Mark Noble is playing like Andrea Pirlo. That’s according to Phil Thompson, who’s positively awe-struck by the West Ham captain’s puppeteering performance against Southampton. We’ll have to take his word for it.

Half-time in Germany, where Bayern Munich lead Hannover 2-0, thanks to Robert Lewandowski and Leon Goretzka. That puts them five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, with Borussia Dortmund playing their game in hand later this afternoon.

Morecambe 1-0 Newport County. Aaron Collins – who cut his teeth in Newport’s youth academy – puts his old club behind with a goal that throws the League Two play-off race into disarray. And almost immediately, Colchester go ahead at Lincoln – if they score again, they’ll take seventh spot off Newport. But there’s three more sides in the equation, and a long way to go just yet.

David Wheeler wastes no time in putting the home side ahead in what is effectively a straight play-off for the second automatic promotion place. That means the Dons leapfrog their opponents into third … as it stands.

Nuno Espirito Santo is a doctor, albeit an honorary one. The University of Wolverhampton have awarded him with a doctorate on the Molineaux pitch, and by jove the man looks resplendent.

Peep peep!

Kickoffs up and down the country. A buoyant Molineaux will be the site of one of the day best deserved laps on honour, but the home fans will have even more to applaud if their side can consolidate their grip on seventh. Meanwhile, bums squeak loudly in Swindon and Macclesfield, where the battle to beat the drop into non-league reaches its grim finale.

Our man David Hytner was at the Vitality Stadium to witness Spurs’ latest study in end-of-season anguish. Here’s his report:

Before that, though, Wembley hosts the day’s biggest fixture: Manchester City v West Ham in the Women’s FA Cup final. A record crowd is expected for a game that the Hammers go into as huge underdogs – City are set to finish the season unbeaten – though they will fancy their chances of an upset. Suzanne Wrack talks to the team’s managing director, 19-year-old Jack Sullivan, here:

And tonight, Liverpool continue to hare after the Manchester City juggernaut in pursuit of their first title in 29 years. Jurgen Klopp and co could very well tuck themselves into bed tonight as league leaders with just one game to play – not quite as promising as it sounds, but a thrilling prospect nonetheless. Our esteemed reporter Don McRae visited Merseyside to write this wonderfully meaty feature on the club, area, history and people. Recommended reading:

Here’s our match report from Aberdeen, where Celtic are currently dancing the merry jig of champions:

Full-time at Bournemouth

… and the hosts have beaten a dilapidated Spurs side 1-0. Mauricio Pochettino’s touchline demeanour: ashen. Part of a three-team title race mere months ago, his side are now hanging on by their fingernails to Champions League qualification – a four-way slow bike race that will likely go to the last day.

Celtic win the Scottish Premiership

Neil Lennon’s side cling on in Aberdeen to clinch their eighth successive league title. Bravo the Bhoys.

Goal! Bournemouth 1-0 Tottenham

Cruel game, football. Having held on heroically for the entire second half, “lads, it’s” Tottenham concede in stoppage time to a Nathan Aké header. Oh, Spurs.

And up in Scotland, Celtic are poised to seal the league title. They need a point against Aberdeen to do so, and have just gone 3-0 up with two minutes left. But let’s not count any chickens just yet. Join Michael Butler here for the final stages:

Team news ahoy

West Ham: Fabianski; Fredericks, Diop, Balbuena, Masuaku; Obiang; Noble, Lanzini; Diangana, Antonio, Arnautovic. Subs: Adrian, Zabaleta, Sanchez, Hernandez, Wilshere, Ogbonna, Perez.

Southampton: Forster; Valery, Bednarek, Stephens, Bertrand; Armstrong, Lemina, Højbjerg, Elyounoussi; Long, Ings. Subs: Austin, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Redmond, Gunn, Targett

…and from the Midlands:
Wolves: Patricio, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Doherty, Dendoncker, Moutinho, Neves, Jonny, Jota, Jimenez. Subs: Cavaleiro, Costa, Gibbs-White, Vinagre, Norris, Traore, Kilman

Fulham: Rico; Christie, Le Marchand, Ream, Bryan; Chambers, Zambo Anguissa, R Sessegnon, Cairney; Babel, Mitrovic. Subs: Kebano, Ayité, Nordtveit, Mawson, Fabri, S Sessegnon, Elliott

There’s also a game happening in Bournemouth, where the wheels are threatening to come off Spurs season in slapstick style. They are down to nine men – have been since the 48th minute – and are currently skidding down the road on a battered cinder block, rain lashing at their face. But they are, as it stands, on course for a precious point. Scott Murray is MBMing it here:

Hello and welcome

In the Premier League, there are two 3pm kick-offs, with Wolves chasing seventh spot and hosting Fulham at Molineux, while West Ham take on Southampton in a game that may or may not feature flip-flops, beach towels and tall glasses of iced tea all round.

The real drama may well come in League Two, where the final round of fixtures are taking place. MK Dons and Mansfield contest an automatic promotion decider, and the final play-off spot is up for grabs: Newport currently occupy it, but Exeter, Colchester, Carlisle and Stevenage are all in contention.

At the bottom, Macclesfield and Notts County are battling to beat the drop. Sol Campbell’s side host Cambridge knowing a draw should be enough, while Notts County go to Swindon. Macc have been in the Football League for a year; County were founder members back in 1888.

We’ll also have updates from around Europe, with Bayern Munich looking to move a step closer to the title at home to struggling Hannover.
