Chilwell residents living in an apartment block could lose their satellite dishes after receiving letters from the council saying they breach planning permissions.
There are at least 20 satellite dishes spread across the apartments within Ribblesdale Court, in Chilwell, where there is a limit allowed on two per building.
Residents in the apartment block have been asked to apply for retrospective planning permission by Broxtowe Borough Council for their satellite dish.
A letter delivered to all residents in the block, seen by Nottinghamshire Live, explains that the council is looking to remove any satellites after August 22 that have not had retroactive permission sought.
It added: "As part of your tenancy agreement, you should write to the tenancy and estate team for permission before making any improvements or alterations. This is inclusive of satellite dishes being fixed to the building.
"Due to the current number of satellite dishes breaching regulations that stipulate only two satellite dishes per building, Broxtowe Borough Council are going to be looking at taking down all satellites on the building, excluding the main communal one."
A Broxtowe Borough Council spokeswoman said: “A recent survey of the Ribblesdale Court has identified that there are more satellite dishes installed than is currently permitted under planning legislation for the building.
"To help address this issue, we have written to all residents to help us determine which dish belongs to which flat, as well as identify any which are not in use which can be removed.

"If following this, there are still more dishes than permitted, the council/residents can apply for planning permission for retrospective permission.”
Residents in the apartment block who spoke to Nottinghamshire Live but wished to remain anonymous said the process was "petty" and "a big hassle".
One man, who has lived at the block for 15 years said: "We got the letter at the start of August. It's a pain to be honest. I've had to apply for permission. It seems petty.
"I don't think the satellites are doing any harm, there's no guarantee permission will be granted and then I'll lose access to television channels."
