Sassy Val Savage tells Piers Morgan he should sew his mouth shut live on air

Mirror columnist Val Savage showed what she's made of today as she went up against Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan.

Val, 72, recently volunteered in her column to be Piers' Deputy Prime Minister if he ever makes good on his many hints and actually runs.

But Val - mum to football pundit and former player Robbie - would make a few tweaks to the GMB firebrand if she had her way.

"This is Val Savage, Robbie Savage's mum," Piers said as Susanna Reid laughed, "who writes a blistering column in the Daily Mirror."

Speaking on a video call, Val told him: "You're very mouthy, you're a bit like me, you say it as it is. I don't say things to please people, I say it as it is and if they don't like it, they don't like it.

"But I think you'd be better than me at running the country because you're more mouthy, because you seem to have an opinion about everything, and you always seem to be in trouble.

"You're always in trouble, Piers!

"You've got a lot of opinions about things, haven't you? I do admire you for that, for being straight, but sometimes I think if I were your mother, I'd get a needle and cotton and sew your lips shut."

Piers, red-faced from laughter, clapped back: "Can I remind you, Val, your son is Robbie Savage, one of the baddest boys in modern football history. If you want to sew people's mouths up, start with him!"

Later he added: "But I'm very grateful for Val's support, I love her column in the Mirror, so you keep being you."

Val wrote in her column last week : "There's a campaign to make Piers Morgan our next Prime Minister and I don't think it's a bad idea.

Even Piers found it funny, but made a jab back about 'bad boy' Robbie (ITV)

"He says it like it is, which is just like me. And he's always mouthing, just like me.

"Maybe I could be his deputy?"

And for their first policy prescription, Val says their dynamic duo would fill the prisons with "Covid rule breakers, anyone without manners and people who makes a silly pouty face for posey pictures."
