'Sassy' Scouse schoolgirl you might recognise from the TV

A 'sassy' schoolgirl from Allerton has landed the starring role in Virgin Media’s latest advertising campaign.

Darcy Ayuya took part in the audition process, via her agency Bonnie and Betty, and wowed the casting team.

The 10-year-old hopes landing the national Virgin Media campaign will lead to other breakthrough acting parts.

Darcy said:  "When I initially read the script, I immediately related to the character and thought ‘she sounds just like me!’

"We love all of the same things, and I knew I wanted to make her as sassy as I am."

The advert aired on ITV on Friday, September 20, during the start of the Rugby World Cup.

Head Teacher of Darcy’s school, Booker Avenue Junior School, Richard Thompson, said: “We are so proud of all of our pupils here and everything they achieve.

"We are thrilled about Darcy’s confident and excellent performance, and we’re excited to see what she does next."

Director of Brand and Marketing at Virgin Media, Cilesta Van Doorn, said:   “Working with Darcy was a dream. She was full of energy and confidence and has a completely infectious smile!

"We can’t wait to see how Darcy develops as an actor – especially now she knows she really can do anything.”
